Please join this inaugural celebration of the LUBC and the social justice community!
We hope this event can build stronger connections between legal workers and community-based organizations.
Law operates to influence, interfere, and control nearly every aspect of the work of activists and organizers as they seek to create social change. Lawyers and legal advocates allied to the cause can be an essential tool for accomplishing the goals of movements.
This event will feature prominent local activists who have experience at the intersections of law and their activism, and they will give short talks on topics from housing to Indigenous rights to drug policy. Speakers to be announced soon!
Admission is a LUBC membership, or a Pay-What-You-Can donation. There will be a cash bar and snacks.
This event takes place on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Watuth) and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) peoples. Unceded means that this land was never surrendered, relinquished or handed over in any way.
